I put a lot of effort to make this part of the site as reliable
as possible. Nevertheless, the following study should be regarded more as an
estimate, rather than the full and final list of all the songs played. Of
course, the accuracy of this study differs in case of various tours. In fact,
pretty much everything is obvious since The Singles Tour 86 98.
However, the closer to the beginning of the 80's, the more differences there are
in conformity to the actual situationin case of various
songs. My knowledge about a concert was not always compatible with the full
setlist, and sometimes there was none.
The study does not contain television appearances, during which
songs from tape were played. TV appearance dates were also problematic, as they were
often erroneously mixed with recording dates of following editions. Whenever it
was verified that a TV or a radio appearance was a live broadcast, it was
automatically placed on the list.
The study is based on negative selection and focuses in
particular on songs played alternately.
Statement of such songs are underestimated than overestimated. Therefore, the
sum of the performances of all the songs played alternately on a particular
route, at a given location setlist, does not have to be equal to a whole number in
fact played concerts on tour. Example: assuming that there were 98 gigs during
Devotional Tour, and we were able to
confirm that Mercy In You was played
60 times, whereas
Right With Me 19 times, the sum of these performances is around 79 concerts.
That leaves a gap of about 19 concerts wheresetlists of
songs played interchangeably haven’t been ascertained.
Song dates of the
Early Days and the
Speak & Spell Tour
listed below do not necessarily mean first performances but one of the firstlive performances which I have found in a form of a bootleg or a setlist.
